Values
I understand improving our health and relationship with our bodies and the foods we eat can take time and be intimidating. I’m here to support you. My values are the driving influences behind my work.
I treat everyone with respect, dignity, and compassion.
I use a client-centered approach to support your unique goals and needs.
I am weight-inclusive in my practice and I accept you as you are.
I believe in a non-diet approach to nutrition and feeding ourselves.
I stay on top of the latest evidence-based best practices for nutrition support. I believe in continuous education to ensure my practice stays relevant and up-to-date.
I understand everyone has their own history and relationship with food. As such, I do my best to practice trauma informed care with all of my clients.
I am committed to serving our community.
Client-Centered Care: You are the focus of our work. You should expect to feel heard, respected, and cared for. I aim to empower you with the tools and knowledge to manage your nutritional needs in the context of your life. Everyone has a unique journey, so I feel it is important to appreciate, and try to understand, the roads people travel; that way strategies and solutions can be found that are realistic, attainable, and lasting.
Weight-Inclusive: I accept and value bodies of all shapes and sizes. I am an advocate for the deconstruction of weight stigma and I believe we can be healthy at every size. In my practice, I work to address internal weight biases and how they affect our relationship with and perceptions of food.
Non-Diet: I take the approach that “all foods can fit”. I’m not going to ask you to give up your favourite foods because eating for pleasure is important! Overwhelmingly, the latest research in dietetics shows that restrictive ‘diets’ are not effective for either health or weight loss. Instead of restricting or following a rigid meal plan, I will work with you to find ways to include the foods you love while nourishing your body.
Evidence-Based: Through my professional practice as a Registered Dietitian, I remain current on peer-reviewed literature to ensure my practice is well supported by the most recent research. I am committed to continuous education to ensure my practice grows to best serve our community.
Trauma-Informed Care: When it comes to conversations around food or healthcare I understand trauma may be prevalent. I operate with an understanding that trauma may have an impact on ones physical, emotional, and mental health and that receiving healthcare services or addressing relationship with food can be retraumatizing. With this in mind, I aim to provide a welcoming, safe, and open environment for you.
